Hey guys, Akil Stokes here. Welcome back to another episode of the The Trading Coach Podcast. As always, we're going to start the week, or as always of lately, I should say. We're going to start the week by taking a look at the economic news events on the agenda for the week ahead. But also as promised in this weekend's Trading Edge video, I'm going to give you a brief recap of what happened last week as well. So the biggest story from last week had nothing to do with inflation, nothing to do with interest rates or unemployment data.

It was geopolitics, aka war. And big surprise, it was still the situation that's happening between the U.S. and Iran that dominated the headlines for most of the weeks and honestly for the past few months or so. Now, early on, tensions escalated after the U.S. carried out strikes against Iranian targets that it claimed were involved in activities around the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran then responded and for a moment, it looked like we could be headed right back towards some much more serious conflict. And just as a quick reminder for anyone that's new, welcome, by the way. Hopefully you subscribe and join us for future episodes, both on the fundamental side and the technical side of things. But whenever tensions rise in a region that is responsible for a pretty significant portion of the world's oil supply, markets immediately take notice.

Traders start thinking about energy disruptions or disruptions to energy and energy production and supply chains and all that fun stuff that leads over to inflation and an overall kind of risk sentiment. Fortunately, towards the later part of the week, things calmed down a bit as reports emerged that the U.S. and Iran negotiations have agreed to draft a framework that could potentially lead to further talks and a reduction in tensions.
