Today is August 12th, 2026, and my guest today is the CEO of Eastport Critical Metals, a critical minerals development company advancing six projects in Botswana. It is Daniel Major. Great to have you on the show. Thank you very much, Jesse, for the invite. I want to talk about the critical minerals segment more broadly at first, and then I want to dive into specifically Eastport Critical Metals.

So I would like to get your assessment of the critical minerals landscape today in this era of geopolitical uncertainty and supply chain fragmentation. Is now a time, perhaps more than ever, to bring online critical minerals exploration, development and production outside of China and other nations that could be considered rivals to the West?

I think the simple answer to that is yes, absolutely. But I don't think it's a short term problem that we're looking at. It's not a now problem. This is a long one. I mean, I was actually doing a bit of looking to set up for this call. And I see the first region that put in a critical mineral list was actually the EU back in 2011. And then Canada did one in 2021. The US actually came a bit earlier. They came in 2018.
