Sterling Metals CEO Mathew Wilson told Mining Stock Daily that the September 2025 MEPS discovery at the Soo Copper Project near Sault Ste. Marie — which returned 265 metres grading 1.05% copper equivalent — is not an isolated hole, but the center point of a 30-kilometre mineralized corridor bookended by two historic copper mines. The company launched a 20,000-metre drill program intended to establish the footprint and grade of that mineralized area.

Going into 2026, the company announced a 20,000 meter program to establish a footprint and create that discovery. 10 months later, what has the company learned? Matt Wilson is CEO. Matt, welcome to Mining Stock Daily.

Matt Wilson Thanks, Michael. Very happy to be here. Matt Wilson So, Matt, the project is in Ontario near Sault Ste. Marie. We do want to get to MEPs because you have been doing a lot of work, but let's step back first to situate where the project is, what's the infrastructure and what trends are you on? Matt Wilson Yeah, so this project is in Northern Ontario. It's about an hour north of Sault Ste. Marie, a city of about 100,000 people, famous for its steel production over the last 100 plus years.

Matt Wilson It's on the shores of Lake Superior. And it's associated with the Mid-Continent Rift, which is a big crack in the earth that runs around Lake Superior and other places, but that is responsible for about 40 million tons of contained copper. Matt Wilson And so what's fun about this project is that you get this big crack that has a lot of copper in it. And you get to be an hour north of Sault Ste. Marie in this wonderful place of Northern Ontario, which is an amazing mining area.

Matt Wilson Hundreds of years of history of mining put together for the for giant porphyry copper project that you usually would only find up in the mountains. Matt Wilson So we have this this this lovely place to work. We're 20 kilometers from a rail line. We're 20 minutes off of the Trans-Canada Highway.
