Nick, thanks very much for joining me on the podcast. Hey Addison, happy to be here. Thanks for having me. Well, obviously what we're talking about is AI, AI, AI and there's a lot of it out there and AMD has been right in the center of it. Your CEO Lisa Su has been on the Time 100,

on the cover of the magazine. Your business is booming. I mean, it seems like you've got a lot going on at AMD. Yeah, that's right. We've got a lot going on over here. It's never been more exciting in my career, certainly. And it's not just AI. I'd say it's also the scientific compute, the high-performance computing and all the impact that AI is having on that. It's certainly transformative. And that's a lot of what we're going to talk about this week in HPC because scientific computing is really at the center of the conversation right now.

And diving right to the point, on an earlier episode of This Week in HPC, Alex Woodie of HPC Wire and I were talking about a new paper that's just been published by Professor Satoshi Matsuoka of Riken in Japan, a well-renowned figure in high-performance computing for decades, the title of which was FP8 is all you need, talking about you don't need 64-bit computing anymore and it's just all going to be emulated with FP8.

And we even joked at the time that at the TPC conference, Alex was sitting with a bunch of AMD people who had somewhat of a different take. AMD has staked its tenure on scientific computing and a lot of that is 64-bit. Nick, what's your view on this? You know, I actually would say I don't think we want to fall under the trap of saying it's FP8 versus FP64. We think the future of scientific computing is not a precision debate. It is the need to move across models.

So, you know, we have two products coming in our 400 series, our next-gen GPU, both the 430 and the 455. The 430 is indeed really well-optimized for FP64. It's also got a lot of AI flops in it. And then the 455 is focused entirely on AI training and inference, so it doesn't have any of that FP64. So, I think what we think is happening is, of course, we're going to keep driving forward in leadership of scientific compute, but there's also AI.

And you can do both, right? You just need distinct products that are really focused on that, that can service both those markets. And we expect that the AI for science is going to be a huge market. Well, I think you hit right on it when you ...
