My guest today is Bob Broeksmit, President and CEO at the Mortgage Bankers Association, to update us on the changes to loan officer compensation and the big wins for housing in the 21st Century Road to Housing Act. In your beautiful offices in Washington, D.C. Absolutely amazing right here in the seat of power.

And it's a great way to talk about what we're talking about today because so many of the things that you guys have been working on, we're seeing progress on that. I want you to be able to update our audience on what you're working on and what's already been done. So if you don't mind, let's start with the CFPB joint letter on mortgage reforms. And I think out of that one, the thing that probably our audience is really thinking about is that LO comp. So tell us where we are on LO comp. Yes. Well, as you know, Sarah, the administration issued an executive order having to do with mortgage finance.

And a big part of it didn't take effect with the president's signing of the executive order. It was more his instructions to the regulators. And a lot of them had to do with the CFPB. And so we got together with some other trade associations, including the American Bankers Association and the Community Bankers Association and America's Credit Unions, among others. And wrote a joint letter to the CFPB saying, look, there's a lot you could do over the next couple of years of the Trump administration.

But from a mortgage perspective, there are certain things you ought to focus on. And chief among them is LO comp. And it's the first time that we've had the banking and credit union trades join us in that request. So we thought that was a significant development. We also urge them to revise TRID and change the tolerances and the timing requirements so that...
