If we take a look at the typical worker, they're not doing fine. Hi, I'm Dean Baker, your host for Mostly Economics. Today we are with us Sabrina Corlette, who's a research professor at Georgetown University and also the co-director of their Center for Health Insurance Reform.

So thanks for joining us, Sabrina. Thank you for having me. So today we want to talk first and foremost about the Affordable Care Act and particularly the changes that the Republicans put in place in their big bill that they passed last year. And we're starting to see the effects of that with people being, well, what do you want to say, thrown off, people not being on the exchanges. So we wanted to talk a bit about, you know, what the impact has been around the country, the different impact across states,

and then go back and say a little bit about what the Affordable Care Act did and did not do. So many successes, but also as we all know, inadequate in many, many ways. So let's just start, you know, where are we seeing the impact? What groups are being most impacted by the changes in the, I should say, the end of the enhanced subsidies? Maybe you should just start by saying what the enhanced subsidies were and how they changed. Yeah, sure.

And I think there's actually a trio of federal policy changes that are contributing to the loss of coverage and the enrollment declines that we're seeing in the Affordable Care Act marketplaces right now.
