Michelle Kittleson, MD, PhD Hello, this is Michelle Kittleson, Professor of Medicine at the Smith Heart Institute at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Welcome to All-In for Transthyretin Amyloidosis, Refining Team-Based Approaches to Diagnosis, Treatment, and Lifesaving Patient-Centered Care. Joining me today is my colleague, Shafiq Karam, Professor of Neurology, Chief of the Neuromuscular Division, and Director of the Neuromuscular Fellowship in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Thank you, Michelle. It's a pleasure to be here. Today, we will learn that. Transthyretin Amyloidosis has widely varying phenotypes that typically affect multiple organ systems, and diagnosis and treatment often require an interdisciplinary team. Many new diagnostic agents and treatments are being evaluated for ATTR, and amyloid centers play key roles in expanding access to clinical trials for them.

ATTR requires both disease-modifying treatments and supportive therapies, ideally delivered by an interdisciplinary team to maximize patient outcomes. Let's start with an overview of evidence and recommendations. So ATTR Amyloidosis presents with a constellation of signs and symptoms across organ systems. The three you are going to care about the most is the heart, which really governs survival.

There can be heart failure, arrhythmias, conduction block. Neuropathy, which can truly impact quality of life, small fiber or large fiber, sensory or sensory motor neuropathy. And finally, the musculoskeletal manifestations, which are huge important clues to the diagnosis as they may precede other manifestations, including heart manifestations, for 5 to 10 years.
