For example, there is a whole class of drugs called biologics which are made from living organisms and they can be composed of

sugars or proteins or nucleic acids. These can be made of living entities like cells and tissues of animals or humans or microorganisms. And at some point, the patent for these drugs ends and a more generic version can be sold. But because the biology is more complicated and unique, the quote-unquote generic version might be medically as efficient but is only structurally similar. These are called

biosimilars and they come with a whole host of unique challenges when it comes to antitrust litigation and allegations for when the drug comes out and who gets to sell them. So we thought today we'd explore these analyses around biosimilars and talk about what kind of unique problems we might face and think about them in regard to litigation.
