I'm Stephen Crutus.

There's staggering numbers coming out of Germany tonight, suggestions that Volkswagen is about to look at retrenching 100,000 people. They employ about 620,000 or so across the group. So it's a big chunk. And of course, this is, you know, Volkswagen and Porsche and its internationals across the world. But it really does tell you what's changing in the car industry. And we'll focus on that a little bit this evening. I think that's going to be an important conversation.

Rene Mutilal from the National Association of Automotive Component and Allied Manufacturers. He'll talk to you about it in just a moment. But I did think, wow, on a Friday, that really is a big story. Lots of questions around whether or not we still need foreign exchange controls in the sort of traditional way. And there was a time when you really did need something like that. Now we live in a completely different era. Money flows very, very quickly.

You could argue that the controls do very little to stop those flows. And that might be true. And I think you would also argue that the people in charge of that, central banks primarily, are doing are driven by kind of belief that they're protecting the country. And I think that's largely true, whichever country it happens to be. But we'll just talk a little bit more about that this evening. I think that's going to be interesting. And then ahead of kickoff, nine o'clock on Sunday night, Bafana, Bafana, of course.

What happens when a team wins and what happens when they lose in terms of the merchandise that is sold, the value of it? I mean, I'm always intrigued. I mean, 10 years ago, you would see people wearing Springbok jerseys from time to time and in certain parts of the country. Now you just see them everywhere, pretty much, you know, just all over the place. And I think that's a real change. And how did they do that? Well, they won two World Cups with Bafana Bafana.

It's been interesting to watch the kind of slow creep of Bafana shirts back into the mainstream. And suddenly today, every politician you see at every public event is wearing one. The president wore one in parliament the other day. So, you know, just how we're seeing that happen. And we'll talk a little bit about that with Nkobile Ndlovo, the founder of Cash and Sport Research and Advisory. And don't forget the Friday Biz Blitz coming up in a little while as well.
