Hello everybody, welcome to the Transform Now podcast. I'm Michael Marchuk. And I'm Brad Hairston. And this is our weekly Pulse Check of AI and automation news as we do every week. We take a look at some articles that are kind of a good one to highlight and hash through all the details. Are you ready, Brad? I am ready. Excellent. Let's do it.

So, we all use ChatGPT, right? Well, maybe not everybody. According to this TechCrunch article, ChatGPT's market share slips below 50% for the first time. So, with the rise of some of these other models that have been definitely growing, all the ones that you know, Grok, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Meta, Copilot.

They're all taking a bite of the apple and looks like ChatGPT is left with less than half of that apple. So, tell us what's going on. Yeah, the headline is that they dipped under 50%, which is definitely notable.

But the real story here may be that users will actually switch their assistance based on values and trust and other things besides feature functionality or the fact that you have a free access to it. Right. So, that's a behavior we really haven't seen at scale before.

And I think that's kind of the main point of this article, you know, that loyalty in the markets turning out to be a lot thinner than maybe the install base would suggest. So, it did fall from 50% in January of this year to 46.4% by the end of May.

And just to put it in comparison to the other big players, Gemini is 27.7% and Claude is 10.3%. It's still surprising to me that Claude's so small with all the fuss around them and the things going on there.

So, ChatGPT, I mean, they were the pioneer and they remain the most popular chatbot assistant, if you will, worldwide with over 1.1 billion monthly users. That's very much bigger than Gemini and Claude. But the fact that they're shrinking, you know, that's a significant dip for them.

And, you know, there's a lot of things going on in the background, which any one of these could have an impact. The article talks about OpenAI's Department of Defense deal that they did in February, which may not have been the most popular thing among their install base. And Anthropic got fired and OpenAI gladly stepped right in. So, that may have had an impact.

I mean, the timing of it is kind of interesting. But if you look at other things going on that maybe are driving people to be more or to make their way over to some of the competitors, you know, ...
