What up HyperChange? Welcome to the weekly podcast. I'm your host Gally. We're here to talk about tech innovation, investing. We've got a banger episode lined up today. I've got the Claude God top secret guest joining us in just a couple minutes here. And we are going to be talking all about how Claude and Anthropic has become the largest AI company in the world, passing ChatGPT. Let's get right into the news because I want to get the data going before we've got our big guest appearance here.

But we've got this blog post that came out from Anthropic today, or sorry, not today, like four days ago, that said the demand from Claude customers has accelerated. This was originally like a flex about we're partnering with Google and Broadcom for multiple gigawatt hours of, you know, more compute. We're crushing it. And then what I think is so awesome, and I think it's a little shot at ChatGPT, is they throw in our revenue run rate has now surpassed $30.

$1 billion. That's crazy. So Anthropic, a business that was at a $1 billion run rate just a year and a half ago, now at $30 billion, making it the fastest growing company of all time pretty much. And what I think is so interesting about this and why I think they were, it's funny they included it, is because OpenAI, the week before, was flexing with their $2 billion in revenue per month, which 2 times 12, we're looking at $24 billion in annualized revenue for ChatGPT. So ChatGPT, years of head start over Anthropic.

They're the first mover in the space. I mean, they pioneered this. The founders of Anthropic left ChatGPT to start Anthropic, and now not only have they caught up, but they've actually surpassed ChatGPT in terms of revenue. So I think this is a crazy passing of the crown moment, and just really caught everyone by surprise. I don't think anyone was predicting this. I mean, ChatGPT was worth $800 billion in their new funding round they just announced. Anthropic was valued at $380 billion.

So those funding rounds are lagging indicators of the valuation and demand, but now I'm hearing gossip that, you know, on X, who knows if this is true or not, but they're saying the Anthropic shares in the secondary market are trading as high as almost a trillion dollars valuation in the secondary market, and while the demand for ChatGPT shares in the secondary market is kind of dwindling. So this is, and I think, you know, it's easy to hate on ChatGPT because they're the big company, the first mover in the space,

but on some level, I don't know. This is a big moment for me. I think Anthropic's bet on coding and automating coding seems to have been far more strategic, at least right now, in terms of generating more revenue. ChatGPT, kind of the more consumer angle is what they've elected to focus on, and don't get me wrong. They've got almost a billion users. They're growing like crazy doing...
