Shashank, did you hear about this? The Chinese DoorDash just came out with a 1.6 trillion parameter model that they trained state-of-the-art, one of the best open source models out there, 1 million context token window, and hear this, they didn't use any American-made GPUs.

They're a little bit hesitant or like a little bit shady about exactly what they use, but I think everybody knows it's Huawei. They use 40,000 or 50,000 Huawei GPUs, probably Huawei, that are A6 specifically made for training, and they were able to make a state-of-the-art LLM topping a bunch of the benchmarks. Shashank, this is crazy. I feel like no one's talking about this. Let's talk about it right now. Shashank, what do you know about this?

It's nuts. You know, when I was in China, I was using Meituan. This is the parent company that made this. It's like a DoorDash plus Yelp plus hotel booking. It's like all other Chinese apps that are super apps. They have a bunch of features, but it is essentially a delivery app. You order food. But now they decided, hey, we're going to build a frontier model. And they just announced it. It's completely open source. It's 1.6 trillion parameters.

It's an MUE, so it has 48 billion active parameters per token. But yeah, I think the most interesting thing about this is how they trained it. They built it on like this large-scale deployment of AI ASIC super pods. And so, like you mentioned, I think they're probably using Huawei because it's like this cold war between US and China.
