Hello everyone, and welcome to the latest episode of QSR Uncut. I'm your host Danny Klein, the editorial director here at QSR. And so, for any of you out there who might listen to some of our webinar programs, you have probably heard today's guest. We have had, I guess it's now going on two years of doing the QSR 50 webinar together. We're on, you know, honestly to a degree, we kind of talk about the things we're going to talk about today, which is going through the segment performance and looking at what's going on in the industry.

But, if you have not listened to those webinars, you are in for a very insightful experience, as we're joined by Huy Do, Research and Insights Manager at Datassentials. So, as we always do, I just want to open up the floor, give us a chance, tell us a little bit about your background, Huy, and also, I would assume most people know what Datassential is, but maybe on the off chance that they don't, just give a little quick elevator pitch of what you all do there as well.

Totally. Thanks so much for having me on today, Danny. This is going to be a pleasure. My name is Huy Do. I'm one of the Trendologists and a Research and Insights Manager at Datassential. We are a global food and beverage intelligence company. And what we do is we do a variety of market research and also intelligence-based platforming to help companies make better and smarter decisions about their food and beverage business. And specifically, my background has always been market research.

I have been a writer, a designer. I write surveys. And through all of that, I've gotten the chance to learn a lot about the industry over the past seven years of my career now. And for the past five of those seven years, I've been producing a Datassential's version of the top 500 report, which means every single year I get to spend a lot of time looking at chains, looking at the top brands that are powering this industry,

seeing their movements, seeing their growth, and figuring out what trends we can learn from those movements. And that's why I'm here. So I don't think I've ever asked you this question, but what were you doing before this life? I was a college student. This was my first job out of college, and this is kind of where I landed. But I worked in restaurants. I did food service. I was always really, really interested in food. So this was kind of where I really thought I'd always end up in some capacity.

Definitely less hours in the kitchen, definitely less schooling, less standing. And intellectually, it's just a very, very fun experience. I mean, what kind of thing do you major in to get into data insights? So many things. I mean, my specific major, I was a communication studies major. So I did a lot of writing classes, a lot of statistics classes. I did a bunch of things. It was a very fun four years.

Yeah, I'm in the – well, I actually just hired an intern yesterday, but I was in the process...
