Public.com presents The Rundown, your daily market update in 10 minutes. My name is Zaid Admani and today is Monday, June 1st. In today's episode, we'll tell you about Nvidia's latest chip that turns a computer into an AI machine. We'll also tell you about two huge government contracts that SpaceX just landed. Then stick around to the end of the show to find out what this NBA Finals has to do with the dot-com bubble.

We got a great show for you today. Let's go. Markets are coming off another big week. The S&P 500 jumped 1.4% last week. Well, the NASDAQ did even better, surging 2.4%. Both of these indices finished at record highs to close the week. And if you zoom out, this rally has been crazy. The S&P has now gone up for nine weeks in a row and the NASDAQ just posted its best two-month stretch since 2002.

Rising 25% in April and May combined. And no surprise here, but this rally has pretty much been carried by AI stocks. In fact, chip stocks alone pushed the S&P up 16% over the past couple months. And even software stocks are making a comeback. Now, if you guys remember at the start of the year, the market went through a sasspocalypse panic where investors were selling off software stocks because they were worried that AI was going to kill these software companies. Well, the market seems to have moved on from that because the software sector just had its best month since 2001.

The software ETF IGV jumped 21% in May. So shout out to everyone that bought the software dip. Now, with stocks ripping like this, I'm starting to see the bubble word being thrown around again. You know, the bubble chatter quieted down when the market tanked at the start of the Iran war. But with this recent surge, the chatter is starting back up again. And it's worth noting that this rally is very concentrated in tech and AI. Despite the S&P 500 hitting record highs, only two of the 11 sectors are sitting at record highs themselves.

So not every stock has been along for the ride. So what I'll be watching is to see if this rally broadens out over the next few weeks and months. One big tailwind for the market, though, has been oil prices cooling off. Brent crude dropped 19% in May, its worst month since 2020, on the hopes of a U.S.-Iran peace deal. Now, there's no official deal signed yet. In fact, there continues to be reports of more military strikes across the region. So that's going to be a key thing to watch moving forward. If an official peace deal gets done, that could add another spark to the rally.

Now, looking ahead to this week, earnings season is pretty much wrapped up. But we are getting an important report from Broadcom, which could add more fuel to the AI chip rally if they report strong numbers. They report on Wednesday after the market close. And then on Friday morning, we get the May jobs report, which could impact what the Fed does next with i...
