Demis Hassabis is stepping out of the CEO seat at Google DeepMind. And right while that is happening, four of the most critical engineers in the history of the company, including Jeff Dean, have just walked out the door to start a new firm. Yeah, you look at that sudden vacuum at the top of a major tech entity, and you really have to contextualize what it actually means when, you know, the architects of modern artificial intelligence just decide their current environment is no longer the place to build the future. Right.

I mean, you're watching the people who basically designed the foundation of the modern Internet decide they need a completely different structure for, well, whatever comes next. And the core question driving all of this, the thing you really have to ask yourself, is whether a corporate structure can actually contain minds whose ambitions have outgrown the products that fund the company.

He's moving from CEO of Google DeepMind to become the chairman of that unit while simultaneously taking on this new role of chief scientist at Alphabet. Yeah.
