We're back here on Market Unclose. I'm Marlee Caden in our Chicago headquarters. That was your closing bell here. So let's check in with where we closed. The S&P up 1.8% at 7736.49. We did hit a new record on the S&P today here. As we look at the NASDAQ closing up 3.3% higher, 29,733. A nice bump from Palantir. Palantir was up 29% today following its earnings. The Dow also hitting a record today, 54,085.94.

That ended the day 1.7% higher here. Caterpillar helping with that intraday record. Also, I think Caterpillar on its intraday record last month on the Dow was also a boost from Caterpillar. The Russell 2K closing up almost 1.9% higher at 3,03709. As we look across our sector performance today, there will be a lot of green on your screen. Tech, of course, our major driver here. We saw semi-conductors recover today. We're up 5% overall. Communication services higher.

Consumer discretionary ever so slightly higher, but still in the green. Staples also higher, 0.6% of 1%. As we move to our next slabs, we aren't going to have a lot of red here, but there are a few names that were red. Here's two of them. Utilities a 0.5% lower. Real estate also just fractionally lower. Industrials, though, one of the winners. Materials a winner on today's session. Both of those up closer to 2%.

And as we look across here, we are going to take a look at financials, which were in the green, up 0.8% energy, of course, lower as we saw oil prices move down into the $75 range. And healthcare just fractionally lower on the session here. Looking across mega cap tech, Amazon under some pressure as Jeff Bezos wants to sell about $4 billion in shares.
