It is that time of year. Time for Apple manufacturing partner Foxconn to staff up for iPhone production. Though it'll likely be different this time around, a piece from Apple Insider says Foxconn's iPhone building army is building up. The piece cites a China Securities Journal report that has the iPhone 18 line entering the mass production stage.

As such, says the report, Foxconn and others in the pipeline are rapidly trying to grow their workforce for the period. According to Apple Insider, the production typically requires many thousands of workers to join Foxconn for a few months as it builds up the initial orders for iPhones for Apple. With iPhones usually hitting shelves less than two weeks after the launch, that means Foxconn has to get to peak output by late August.

Wouldn't you think they would need fewer people this time around though? And might that make bonuses less enticing? The piece points out what we've heard for months now, that Apple is expected to launch the Pro and Foldable iPhones this fall, moving the entry-level iPhone and perhaps an iPhone Air update to the spring of 2027.
