I'm Stephen Krutus. Obviously, you know, we all have thoughts about Youth Day. We all have thoughts about some of the problems that we face.

We look at our youth unemployment crisis in about half an hour from now. We've looked at it and everyone's looked at it so many times. I was struck today and I was just preparing for the show and I just thought, hmm, let me just check. Did you know that the youth unemployment rate in China, the economy which everyone says is growing so dramatically, the youth unemployment rate there is 16%. And that just says to me that this is a problem greater than us.

And that's what scares me. I've told you before, I'm sure, that if you look at youth unemployment in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, you see very similar figures, Lesotho II. And it's a Southern African phenomenon that they're so high. But it's becoming more and more a kind of, you know, global phenomenon. And I don't know what's shifted, what's changed. I think the pandemic is there somewhere.

I know older people can be quite dismissive of younger people sometimes. I don't think that's fair. I think we've created the situation that young people find difficult to negotiate. I think that's on us. I realize that may not be a popular view. So I don't know what's shifted. But something has, somewhere. If we don't shift it back, we're in real trouble. I mean, sheesh. So anyway, we'll talk a little bit more about that in half an hour. I think it's going to be an important conversation.

Lots of people obviously just watching the oil price and, you know, the JSE closed. But that's the big indicator of things. And lots of conversations coming out about the peace agreement that was sort of announced over the last 36 hours. And we hope will be signed on Friday between the U.S., Israel, and Iran. And we'll talk more about the impact of gold in particular. There have been some interesting comments from the World Gold Council today. Andres Elias is the currency risk specialist and director at Treasury One. We'll hear from him in a minute on that.

Interesting analysis about how our economy sort of weathered the storm. Ren Naidu, portfolio manager at 91, has some thoughts on that. He'll share with us in about 20 minutes. I was amazed when I was going through this report. It's from Discovery Health. It's about basically death rates. Now, death rates are quite a sort of morbid thing to discuss. But a really important thing. And they have seen a significant decline in their mortality rate at the same time as people have really changed their behavior. And ...
