Let's kick things off hier in New York City, wo heute ist Parade Day für den NBA Champion Knicks. Und die Team ist endlich getting a ticker tape parade up on Broadway und durch die Canyon of Heroes, ending in a key to the City Ceremony. It's the franchise's first ever Championship Parade. The 1970 and 73 titles only got City Hall Ceremonies, so this caps a 53-year wait. Mayor Zoram Amdani is saying that this will be the biggest parade in New York City history.

NYPD is expecting millions of people to attend, exceeding the capacity of Lower Manhattan. It's so big that the NYPD says they're deploying more than 10,000 officers on the route. It's the largest planned deployment for a single event in city history, even bigger than New York's Eve in Times Square. And getting a spot on the parade route is the biggest ticket. According to Airtasker, some fans are paying up to $750 for someone to camp out overnight and hold them a spot along the route.

Now live coverage of the parade starts at 9 a.m. Eastern Time on NBA TV and Peacock. Let's shift to the WNBA where the regular season is about to get even bigger. As the league announced they'll expand from its current 44-game season to 50 games starting next year in 2027. It's part of the league's new collective bargaining agreement, which also locked in a $2.2 billion media rights deal and six new expansion teams by 2030. Commissioner Kathy Engelbert says demand for the league quote has never been greater.

The new deal even pushes the finale later into the calendar as well, as late as November 30th by 2028. And the league could go bigger still with an option to expand to 52 games starting in 2029. In the league's inaugural season, the WNBA played just 28 games back in 1997. Now to the eyes where the NHL just posted some eye-popping numbers for the Stanley Cup finals.
