[SPEAKER_A] Welcome to New Directions and Approaches in the Management of Patients with HER2-Altered Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer. This is medical oncologist Dr. Neal Love. I met with Dr. Joshua K Sabari from the NYU Langone Health Perlmutter Cancer Center in New York City to discuss cases and key presentations and publications in one of the most exciting new areas of oncology research. Particularly the recent approvals of two HER2-directed tyrosine kinase inhibitors, zongertinib and cevibertinib. In the first part of this 3-part podcast series, Dr. K Sabari discusses cases presented by Dr. Mark Jeng from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. To begin, Dr. Jeng presents a 96-year-old woman with a history of light smoking and a resection 5 years ago of a stage 2A HER2 exon 20 insertion mutant adenocarcinoma, followed shortly by disease recurrence in the bone, treated with T-DM1 and then TDXD for 5 years, now with disease progression.

[SPEAKER_B] We switched her very recently to zongertinib, and she's been on this for about 3 or so months now, and she's doing really, really well. We are managing her effusion with the Pleurex, but hoping that once the more response with the zongertinib kicks in, we may be able to remove the Pleurex catheter. She had mild diarrhea just for a couple of days, but that was the only side effect that she's had so far. This lovely 96-year-old has been doing great on it. And one question you may bring up with the faculty is, you know, we do have these really two great TKIs that were approved back to back, zongertinib, cevibertinib.
