Lucky for you, we have Lindsay VanHulle, deputy editor and covering EVs for Automotive News on the show today. Lindsay, how are you? I'm good. How are you? I am excellent. So I am at AutoTech. You were at the Women's Automotive Summit yesterday. We missed each other by a day, which was unfortunate. Yeah, it was a really good event.

Lots of insight and wisdom on professional development from a lot of women leaders in the industry. So it was great. Well, like I said, before I hit record, I'm going to have to save that on my calendar for next year. But anyway, I'm so glad you're here. I'm so glad you made the time because you wrote an article a couple of weeks ago.

It was talking about some automakers are launching new EVs in 2026 as others pull back. It's this really interesting landscape that we have right now. I'm sure we'll get into it a little bit later.

But really great work that you and your team are doing. So let's get into a warm up question. I've been asking everyone this question because everyone has a little bit of a different spice. The fill in the blank question is covering the automotive industry in 2026 is like?

I'm a runner. So I'm just thinking about this year in particular and everything is moving so quickly and changing so quickly. And we're trying our best to stay on top of it all and make sense of what it means and get it out there as fast as we can. So the industry can keep up and just feels like the thing I kept coming back to is like we're just at full speed and running as fast as we can to make sense of it all. It's a lot. The industry is changing so quickly.

Speaking of running at full speed, I am not a runner. I am more of a walk jogger on my best day. So given how much automakers have overestimated EV market growth, because realistically, we like to live in the real world. Okay. What are the different ways in which automakers are moving the chess pieces around the board? Right. Are they pulling back, pivoting, investing? What are you seeing, Lindsay?
